Artwork:
There are multiple ways to send artwork. Any type of high quality prints, digital art on disks (CD, Floppy, Jazz, Zip, etc.) or by email. FTP upload available for artwork files that are too large to be emailed.
Digital VECTOR ART: The preferred digital artwork is VECTOR ART. This is created with software such as Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw or Macromedia Freehand. The quality of VECTOR ART is not effected by enlarging which is not the case with RASTER ART. Preferred formats for VECTOR ART are AI. and EPS. Please make sure all fonts are made into outlines (or curves).
Digital RASTER ART: As mentioned above, RASTER ART is effected (negatively) by enlarging (examples of RASTER ART files are JPEG, TIFF, BITMAP, PSD). For this reason, there are some requirements for this type of artwork. Bitmaps and Grayscale files need to be at least 1200 dpi at 100% of the final size. We will redraw most black and white raster art and turn it into vector art for the best quality imprint. Color and halftone raster art should be at least 300 dpi at 100% of the final size.
* Make sure you include ALL of the files that were used to create your digital art. Many times people forget to include the embedded or placed files such as TIFFs or EPSs.
Camera Ready Art: This is artwork that is printed on some type of media (usually some type of paper). It is then scanned into our system and turned into digital art. The larger the art is (200% suggested), and the higher the print resolution is (600 dpi suggested), the better the scan will be. Examples of camera ready art are: letterhead, business cards, printed media pieces like catalogs etc.) Examples of non-camera ready art are: Faxes, copying machine papers, etc.
*A1 Pen Company will make light touch ups for free to all artwork. We reserve the right to delay or reject orders if artwork cannot be used due to its low quality. If you need to have your artwork recreated A1 Pen Company will do that for a nominal fee. You will be contacted if you are in need of this service.
Fonts: Whenever possible make your fonts into outlines or curves. This will eliminate font issues with files you send. Most vector/draw applications do this very easily, if you are unsure how to do this please contact us. If you are using an application that does not do this, make sure you include the screen and printer fonts with the file so that the font will not be substituted with the default font (which will probably not look like the font you want).
Typesetting:
We will add text to your imprint for free. We
have a plethora of fonts available to choose from.
To ensure your imprint is correct, please include
instructions on how to use the text (e.g. Arial,
Bold, Upper/Lower Case, 10pt). If you do not specify
we will set up the text the way we think best. To view
our stock type styles click here.
Layout: To ensure the layout of your imprint is how you want it, please include a hard copy (printed example of artwork) of your art. If you have multi-color art, send a color hard copy of that so we can see the way the colors should look together. If you do not specify we will lay it out the way we think best. |
